Home Remedies For Back Pain

Sedentary lifestyle, little time for exercises and accidents or trauma caused to the back muscles and bones are some of the factors that lead to back pain. In fact back pain is one of the most common health problems suffered by people around the world and is experienced by almost everyone at some or the other point in their lives.

Certain diseases such as cancer, peptic ulcers, osteoporosis, sciatica, spinal stenosis or herniated discs can lead to back pain. Sometimes even simple things like lifting a heavy object or sitting in a hunched position for a long time can also trigger off backache.

If the back pain is caused by diseases and other health problems then the solution lies in alleviating and curing the root cause by medical intervention. However when the back pain is caused by other factors, then using simple home remedies can help in providing relief from the pain.

A simple home remedy for back pain is ice compresses. Wrap a few cubes of ice in a plastic bag and then wrap a thin towel round it. Apply this compress on the affected area for ten to fifteen minutes to minimize the discomfort and back pain.

You can try taking a relaxing hot bath to relieve back pain. The heat helps in soothing and relaxing your tired, aching back. You can also try using heat pads or hot water bottle to the affected area to get rid of the pain.

Garlic is considered to be an excellent remedy for backache. Fry eight to ten cloves of garlic in mustard oil and use this to massage your back. Alternately you can chew on fresh garlic cloves each morning to get rid of back pain.

Massaging your back helps in relieving the tension in the muscles and improving the blood circulation. Use eucalyptus oil, mint oil or turpentine oil is known to lessen backache significantly.

In addition to this eating a healthy diet with fruits and vegetables and keeping your weight in check can help keep backache away.  It is important to keep in mind that when your back is aching instead of lying down on the bed for hours move around and keep yourself fit with regular exercises.
