Fight Cellulitis Naturally With 7 Soothing Solutions

Bacterial infections are of various kinds. Cellulitis is a bacterial infection on the skin caused by streptococcus bacteria which leaves the skin inflamed and red. Very commonly seen among kids and older people, cellulitis cannot be taken as harmless. The infection if left undetected and untreated will lead to lymph node infections which can be dangerous. Cellulitis is mostly caused when the bacteria enters the body, most often through a cut or wound on the skin. Antibiotics have to be administered in order to prevent the infection from reaching the blood stream. However, many natural methods can be used for treating cellulitis, if discovered in the initial stages itself.

Natural Cures For Cellulitis

Yogurt

All kinds of bacterial infections benefit from the use of yoghurt. The active cultures in yoghurt will help in removing the bad bacteria that is working on the infection. With regular intake of yoghurt, the bad bacteria will be overwhelmed by the good bacteria and finally the infection starts receding due to the extra support offered by the good bacteria in the body. Take at least 2-3 cups of yogurt daily and apply yoghurt topically as well on the inflammation.

Garlic

Garlic is a very powerful antibacterial agent and can be used for treating all kinds of bacterial infections and inflammations of the body. At the onset of cellulitis, take 4-5 garlic cloves every day. Chew well before consumption and take it along with some water or food if it is too hot to be taken alone. Crush some garlic and apply on the cellulitisas well to remove the infection and bacterial action.

Water

Drinking plenty of water is very important even otherwise. When you have infections caused by bacteria, water will help in flushing out the bacteria and prevent the bacteria from multiplying uncontrollably. Drink at least 3 litres of water and keep drinking as you urinate.

Bromelain Supplements

Bromelain is an anti inflammatory agent found naturally in pineapples.  Taking pineapples would help when you have cellulitis. 250 mg of bromelain must be taken as supplements to reduce the inflammation drastically and also to put an end to the bacterial infection. A combination remedy of treating bacterial action and removing bacteria would work better in some cases.

Calendula

The inflammation on the skin can be soothed and healed by using calendula powder. Calendula powder can be applied on the skin for healing the cellulitisfaster. A tea made from calendula flowers can be prepared for application on the inflamed skin. Take dried calendula flowers; a tablespoon would be sufficient. Boil with a cup of water and steep for 10 minutes. Using a cotton cloth, apply the infusion on the skin to reduce the inflammation.

Echinacea

Infections can be set right faster by improving the resistance of the body. For strengthening the immunity of the body, Echinacea can be taken. Topical application of Echinacea too is known to remove the inflammation associated with cellulitis.

Tea Tree Oil

Take tea tree oil and add some water or olive oil to it in order to reduce its severity. Apply on the affected skin to reduce the inflammation and bacterial action.
