Even though kids are more prone to ear infections and earaches, it is not something which is not centred just around kids. Earaches can affect anyone and most of the time it has a tendency to crop up or aggravate during the night. This is why it is a wise thing to be aware of a few natural remedies that can help you control and stop the ache at home itself.
Earaches are caused due to a variety of reasons. Sometimes inserting a cotton bud is all that you require to initiate an earache. Infections of the ear, ear drum damage, tinnitus and entry of some foreign material in the ear are all reasons that can cause earache.

Heat Therapy For Earache

Heat therapy almost always works for all kinds of pain. For earache, take a hot water bag and fill it with water. Make sure that the water that is filled has the right temperature that can be used for resting your face on it. Use this bag for keeping the ear that pains on it. You can use it as a pillow and relax for a few minutes. In a few minutes, the pain will gradually fade away and you will sleep peacefully.

Banana For Earache

A juice that is extracted from the banana tree is supposed to give great relief from earache and probably put an end to the problem that causes the earache as well. Clean the bark of a banana tree and put a small hole on it with a knife.
Squeeze out the juice from the bark. Take a pan and warm this juice. Cool it and put 3-4 drops in the ear before you sleep. This will provide you good sleep, free from pain and the next day you will be free from all pain.

Sweet Almond Oil For Earache

Take a tablespoon and dip it in hot water for a few minutes so that it gets heated. Add some sweet almond oil into this tablespoon. Keeping your head tilted, you can add a few drops of this warm oil into the ear. Keep the head tilted until you are sure that the oil has reached the ear canals and exerted its action.

Holy Basil For Earache

Take holy basil leaves and boil it along with a cup of water. Steep for 10 minutes and strain it through a cloth before using this tea on the affected ear. Holy basil tea can also be taken internally if your earache is connected to respiratory infections. Alternatively, make a paste of holy basil leaves. Take a pan and heat the paste until the oil starts oozing out of the paste.  Gather this oil and use it as ear drops to treat earache.

Onion Juice For Earache

Take an onion and crush it until you get some juice from it. Strain using a cotton cloth and warm the oil before using it. Before going to sleep, take this juice and apply 3-4 drops in the ear. It is recommended to keep your ear in the upwards position overnight so that the juice acts on the ear pain as well as the infection overnight.
