But many of us do not know that they can enhance our skin and rejuvenate it with its vitamin, mineral and beta carotene content. Carrots can be used as a base for preparing many home made beauty treatment masks and creams.

Many of us dab on creams and lotions that are very expensive and wonder why our skin do not respond to the great care offered by these expensive products. The truth is that these creams do almost nothing for our skin than expose it to harmful chemicals and agents that damage our skin in the long run.

Homemade facial treatments prepared with vegetables and fruits from nature’s own reserves protect our skin by being gentle and extremely mild on our skin, yet providing it with a beauty and care that cannot be found in any cream or lotion that is available in the market.

Carrot Facial for Oily Skin

For carrot facial, take three medium sized carrots and cook it with boiling water until it turns soft. Blend them to form a paste and add 4 tablespoons of honey. Apply evenly on the face and leave it for 20 minutes. The vitamin A and the minerals in the carrot will pierce your skin and nourish it to perfection while you do this. Wash off in cold water.

Carrots help in removing eczema and other skin problems and clear the skin off all the blemishes. For dry skin, dab some olive oil after this treatment in order to retain the moisture. Carrot mask also helps in protecting the skin from free radicals and promote regeneration of the skin.

Carrot Oil for Dry Skin

For skin that is dry, we need to provide more nourishment and moisture to prevent it from premature ageing and wrinkles. Carrot oil is best for applying on dry skin to promote its suppleness and smoothness.

For preparing carrot oil, take two medium sized carrots and put them in a glass bowl or jar. Fill it with pure coconut oil till the carrots are completely immersed. Leave it covered in a sunny area for about two weeks. After this process, you can squeeze the carrot and extract the remaining juice from it. The subsequent oil along with the goodness of carrot embedded in it can be used for nourishing and massaging your skin to remove blemishes and dryness. Carrot oil can be used for nourishing normal and dry skin.

Carrot and Coffee Scrub for Exfoliation

For enjoying the exfoliating bliss of carrot and coffee scrub, grind one cup of fresh coffee grains to powder form. Add two tablespoons of cornmeal to the coffee. Grind equal amount of carrot as the coffee. Mix well and apply on the body, taking special are to massage in circulating motions in the dry areas of the skin. The skin gets rejuvenated by the carrot and coffee mix. Cornmeal removes the excess oil from oily skin while the carrot nourishes the skin and leaves enough moisture to leave it feeling soft and supple.

Using the carrot and coffee scrub at least twice a week will keep your skin free from dead cells and resultant pimple and acne formations. This scrub also helps people with oily skin as cornmeal absorbs excess oil form the skin effectively. If you have oily skin you must use this scrub every day in order to get maximum benefit out of it.

Carrot Face Pack for Revitalising the Skin

For preparing carrot face pack, grind a carrot and blend it to form a paste. Wash your face and pat dry. Now you may apply lemon juice on your face for a bleaching effect. Wipe it off with a wet cloth after ten minutes. Apply carrot paste on your face evenly. Allow it to penetrate your skin for twenty to thirty minutes.  Wash it off after that.

Orange juice can be use in the place of lemon juice as orange too has good bleaching properties. If you have very dry skin, add a mashed tomato and one crushed almond along with the carrot facial which will leave your face with the right amount of oil.

Carrot Face Mask

This is an excellent face mask for oily skin. For preparing carrot face mask, extract the juice of carrot and add equal amounts of butter milk to it. Stir well and leave it in the refrigerator for soaking for three to four hours. Now you can remove it and apply on your face. Leave it for half an hour and wash with warm water. The remaining mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Using a carrot mask for oily skin will keep the excess moisture under check, leaving your skin blemish free and devoid of acne and blackheads.

Carrot and Avocado Paste for Dull, Lifeless Hair

Dull and lifeless hair is a problem that all of us face. The harsh effects of the sun’s rays and the pollutants that invade the environment lead to split ends, severe hair fall and other problems.  Dry hair need to be oiled well in order to combat the harsh effects of the environment. For this, we can prepare a paste of carrots and avocados. Avocados have natural oils that can nourish the skin and prevent dryness and split ends.

Grate one carrot and put it inside a glass bowl or cup. Add olive oil to it so that the grated pieces are fully immersed. Now take a pan and boil some water. When the water starts boiling, immerse the cup inside and allow it to stand there for an hour till it gets cooked. After straining the carrot pieces, you may now mix one mashed avocado to the carrot oil. Apply this on the hair and massage in into the scalp thoroughly. Leave it for an hour before washing off. This treatment will leave your hair lustrous and full of nourishment.
