Onion has antibacterial properties and hence removes the bacteria causing the infection. Onion can be used in a number of ways to treat ear infection.

Cut an onion into two and strain the juice from it. You can now use an eye dropper for putting a drop or two into the ear. Alternately, you can steam the onion along with its skin and squeeze out the juice from it by crushing it. You may add a few drops of water on the onion to squeeze out more juice. Put a few drops into the ear for instant relief from pain. A quick way is to cut the steamed onion into two and hold the piece against the ear for twenty minutes.

Garlic for Treatment of Ear Infection

Garlic too is a great natural remedy for treating ear infections.  Its anti inflammatory and antiseptic properties work in unison to fight off infections and reduce inflammation. There are a number of ways for using garlic too for immediate relief.

Warm garlic oil can be dropped into the ear using the ear dropper. You may rub the oil around the neck and massage it for lymphatic drainage.  Take a clove of garlic and cut it into half. Fit it comfortably into the outer ear canal without pushing too hard. In case you feel a burning sensation on the skin of the year, rub some olive oil on the skin where the garlic touches. While you are in pain, it is advisable to avoid drinking anything cold. Milk and cold drinks can increase ear ache. Spicy and oily food also must be avoided as they can irritate the infected ear. Smoking and alcohols too are not recommended during this period.  Include green leafy vegetables that are rich in vitamins, zinc and minerals. This will relieve the pain in the ear.
